Told by the artist herself,A Weaverly Path is a documentary portrait of tapestry weaver Silvia Heyden. The film follows the artist during a year of creation and reflection as the Eno river, multi-colored threads, music and the patterns and shapes woven into the warp of her loom come together in an inspiring story about the life and work of a textile artist.
At eighty-three years young, Silvia Heyden continues to weave each day at her loom. After producing over seven hundred tapestries, she is passionate about sharing her philosophy and unique approach to her creative process. Born in Basel, Switzerland and trained in the Bahaus tradition at the School of the Arts in Zurich, Heyden has woven tapestries that hang on the walls of collectors and institutions throughout the world.
A Weaverly Path combines stunning images of Heyden at her loom and walking along the Eno River, celebrates the beauty and diversity of her finished tapestries in exhibition and commissioned spaces, and offers an intimate a portrait of Heyden, the natural world she embraces, and the philosophy, life experiences and materials which inform her weaving.
